Launch of Bodhi Online Membership Program

Hello to our friends, new and old, who are visiting us in this virtual manner. We have an exciting announcement for you all, but first a bit of background on how we have come to this moment in our history. In particular, we would love to be able to share a bit about Bodhi Surf + Yoga for those who may just be learning about us now!

Bodhi Surf + Yoga Online

What exactly is this Bodhi Surf + Yoga?

Bodhi Surf + Yoga is a surf and yoga camp in beautiful Bahia Ballena, Costa Rica, that has been operating for more than 10 years now. When we started out in 2010, our intention was to share our passions for surfing, yoga, travel, and the beautiful environment of our home with our guests. Over time, and without forcing it, it transformed into what it is today: a place where we share, recognize, and celebrate the value and importance of human connection.

Today, Bodhi Surf + Yoga remains a small, family and friend owned and operated business. While we have not really grown in size, we have in impact. We are the first of our kind B Corporation certified surf and yoga camp. We are a 1% for the Planet member. We are recipients of some very unique accolades: B Corps’ Best for the World (three years running in the community category), Tripadvisor’s Traveller’s Choice Award, and more. More than that, we have become a business that utilizes surfing, yoga, and travel itself as a force for good.

Bodhi Surf + Yoga Lodge

How has Bodhi Surf + Yoga developed?

Bodhi Surf + Yoga’s physical space — the lodge, the yoga platform, our community, the Marino Ballena National Park — has been so good to all of us. More than the activities of yoga and surfing, our little corner of paradise has become a place to share. It has allowed both us and our visitors to learn from one another, whether about the ocean, or sustainability, or life as a whole. There have been countless deep and meaningful connections that have been established over this decade plus. Our guests have become our friends. They’ve become friends with one another.

We can proudly say that, today, we use surfing, yoga, and the spectacular environment that surrounds us as the simple tools to do something much more profound: to foster and build that kind of connection in a natural and spontaneous way.

How Bodhi Surf + Yoga is responding to the times

Now we are facing a new challenge! Our world has changed drastically in the past several years. Times are moving and changing faster than ever. This could be seen as an insurmountable problem or a nice challenge — depending on your perspective. One of our favorite “laws” from the Tao Te Ching says that the only constant thing in life is change. Part of our yoga path is to learn to adapt and be flexible to the circumstances around us; to learn how to flow with all the changes that come and go. This goes for life itself, we have learned.

After a period of being closed mandatorily, our guests are once again able to come and visit us, and it has been sweeter than ever. There is something very special about starting something back up that you thought you may have lost forever. There is a new sense of appreciation and awe that exists about something that perhaps before had become routine.

However, these times have called for us to be both supple and adaptable. To move and flow according to the changing times. So during the past year, we have been working hard on developing a way to continue fulfilling our mission and vision for Bodhi Surf + Yoga: to educate, inspire, and empower our stakeholders to live more sustainably through surfing, yoga, nature immersion, and community engagement. So without further ado, we have something very exciting to announce! Whether or not you can come visit us in person any time soon; now our Bodhi Surf + Yoga team will be visiting you at home now, too.

The beginnings of something new: Bodhi Online

So this is a bit of background behind this new adventure that we are embarking upon: taking Bodhi Surf + Yoga online. With this humble project, we would like to use the tools and technology that are being provided to us to build meaningful, educational courses to explore different aspects of both yoga and wellbeing as a whole. The idea is to continue connecting to each other in meaningful ways, to learn from each other, and to share what we love in different ways.

With our Bodhi Online membership, we will be offering both live and pre-recorded classes, full courses, exclusive blogs, and interviews/talks in the following categories:

  • Yoga Asana
  • Yoga Philosophy
  • Healthy and nutritious cooking
  • Living well and awakening purpose

In addition, we will be adding new material in those categories weekly, and diversifying the categories themselves. We believe that this platform will allow us to offer a modified version of the on-the-ground surf and yoga camp experience, right to you in your own home.

The journey continues…

As usual at Bodhi Surf + Yoga, we are excited to be able to finally broaden the access of what we offer to a global community. While before the Bodhi Surf + Yoga camp experience was only available to those who could travel, usually internationally, to see us here in Costa Rica; now, it will be available for anyone in the world who has access to a smart device and an internet connection.

Bodhi Online is something that we are building together, so we look forward to hearing from you about your experience using our platform, as well as your ideas of things we can add or modify in order for this to have it’s own heart and soul. We also hope you have fun in the process!

Namaste and Pura Vida, amigos!
