2018 Ocean Guardian Contest Winners

Bodhi Surf + Yoga / Surf + Yoga Camp Blog / 2018 Ocean Guardian Contest Winners

Another year, another Ocean Guardian Contest. In our six years of running the contest, we have been inspired by so many people taking action in their lives to make the world (both its land and its oceans) a better place! To those who entered in 2018, the entire Bodhi team thanks you for your efforts! This contest aims to unite people with a common positive mission: to love and protect our planet. This year, contestants had to answer the question “How can individual action change the world?”

The final round had six entries, and after five days of public voting, the top three will be receiving some awesome prizes! We want to take a moment to make sure that each contestant receives some major kudos  for not just recognizing a problem, but also caring about it and taking individual action to make it better. What the world needs is more Ocean Guardians, and we sure are proud of everyone who entered this year!

Winners of the #OGC2018

1st Place: Stephanie Chan — “Plant-based wins the day”

In her video entitled “Plant-based wins the day”, Stephanie demonstrates how to eat your way to a better world! In a very easy-to-understand video and easy-to-start way, you can reduce your impact impact on the planet by changing your diet. The facts and figures are truly astounding, and the video very uplifting and shows the ease of incorporating a plant-based diet into your life!

Huge shoutout to our sponsors

Like every year, this year’s contest is what it is because we help from wonderful, responsible, and committed companies which not only donated some pretty cool swag, but also helped get the word out. We hope the 2018 Ocean Guardian Contest winners enjoy their prizes, and become champions of these awesome brands. We also recommend that everyone patronize these fine enterprises, because aside from just making products that raise awareness about environmental issues and/or are alternatives for products that cause environmental harm, they also do great work outside in their communities (both local and global). They are true Ocean Guardians and we are proud to partner with them in this way and others!

Final reflections

We hope that this contest has shown that individual action can indeed change the world, and that through the videos of this year’s contestants, at least a few people are inspired to start taking their own individual action. Change will never happen because we have thoughts or opinions on things, but because we take action on that which matters most. That means, if you see things happening in this world that you do not agree with, or that make you scared for our future, it is imperative that you act!

Only together can we build the world that we want to live in, and for the future generations to enjoy as we have been able to enjoy! So we hope that you use these videos this as more fuel for the fire, more fodder for inspiration!

We encourage you to sign our Ocean Guardian Pledge, which will also sign you up to receive our some emails with very helpful and easy actions about individual actions that you can take to make our world a better place!
